Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm was designed to help relieve inflammation and pain accompanied by sprains, muscular ache, strains, rheumatoid arthritis, stiff shoulder, sporting injuries, and similar conditions. Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm belongs to a class of drugs known as Topical NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) and it is chemically composed of Diclofenac Diethylamine, an NSAID that mainly works by blocking the naturally produced chemical groups that cause inflammation in the human body. 

Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm is available in gel form in a tube form, meant for external use only. Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm can be applied in a thin coat over the affected area on the skin with clean hands, 3 to 4 times per day or as advised by the physician. Usually, clinical improvements can be seen in a few days or as advised by your doctor. It should not be used for longer durations without consulting a doctor. It should not be prescribed to children under 14 years of age and pregnant or breastfeeding women, under the care and supervision of a physician. Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm is a topical form of NSAID medicine, Diclofenac diethylamine. It works by blocking the production of prostaglandins via the COX pathway. Prostaglandins are chemicals that are naturally produced in the body that helps carry out inflammatory responses in the body when needed. By preventing prostaglandins from carrying out their inflammatory functions, Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm can aid in the reduction of inflammation and swelling and alleviate pain experienced by a patient.

How to use Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm?

A thin layer of Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm is to be applied on the skin with clean hands 3 to 4 times per day or as advised by the physician, for up to 2 weeks. Do not use a rough hand and just gently apply Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm to the affected area. Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm is not meant to be covered after application.

Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm is to be used under the care and supervision of a doctor and for a specified period only. Patients are advised to not stop using the Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm without consulting a physician, once they see or feel an improvement in their symptoms, which is likely to occur 2 weeks after starting treatment with Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm.

  • Uncap Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm and poke the foil on the mouth of the tube by a pointed projection on the exterior of the cap
  • Take out a small amount of {{product} on fingertips and gently rub it in to form a thin, even coat over the affected area.
  • Wash your hands after application, an additional amount can be reapplied if Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm gets wiped off from any part accidentally
  • Do not apply any heat to Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm from outside such as a heating pad or a device
  • {{product} is applied to the skin 3 to 4 times per day up to 3 weeks or as per the doctor’s suggestion.
  • Do not apply on broken/cracked/wounded skin

Dosage

Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm can be used for up to 3 weeks under a doctor’s supervision, treatment is commonly prescribed for 2 weeks. If there’s no improvement in your symptoms after 7 days of application, consult your doctor who may consider changing the medicine for you. Dosage for the gel form can be estimated as a small-sized amount on the fingertips

Adult Dosage

A thin film of Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm is to be applied three to four times a day, as instructed by a physician.

A small amount on the fingertips should be gently rubbed in. Application on the face or mucus membranes is not advised.

Child Dosage

Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm must not be used on children under 14 years of age without consulting a doctor. It is not considered safe for application in this age group. 

Elderly Dosage

For elderly patients the dosage of the drug may be lower than normal, Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm although absorbed through the skin in small amounts, it may pose a problem in elderly patients without supervision so, in such cases, the doctor may prescribe an altered dose of the Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm.

Pregnancy use and lactation

Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm should not be applied during pregnancy, especially last trimester, therefore if you are pregnant, or are planning to start a family, please do discuss Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm with your doctor before using it, who will only prescribe if deemed necessary.

Contraindications

  • Skin Rash/ Blisters - can be eased by applying soothing and healing lotions or creams such as calamine or organic aloe vera lotion/cream. Apply a cold compress to the rash to help reduce itchiness and redness caused by the rash. An Antihistamine (prescribed by a doctor) is also recommended as an effective way to combat any skin rash.
  • Dryness - apply a moisturizer to the skin and wait for 10-15 minutes after which apply Voltral Emulgel 1% Gel 50 gm onto the skin. This will prevent skin from getting dry and flaky.
  • Headaches - In which case make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Avoid the use of alcohol. Take a prescribed painkiller. Consult your doctor if the headaches last longer than a week or are severe
  • Feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting) or diarrhea - Avoid eating rich or spicy food. It might help to take medication after food. If you're sick, try drinking small, frequent sips of water.
