This drug is prescribed to patients with high blood pressure (normal blood pressure for adults is usually 120/80 mmHg) and to patients with mild to moderate chronic heart failure. Tenormin 25mg Tablet 14 'S belongs to a group of chemicals known as beta blockers which work on the heart muscles, to lower the number of contractions (heartbeats) per minute of the heart and thereby, making sure that the flow and release of blood from the heart continues normally.
The patient ought to discuss with their physician before ceasing intake of the medicine even if the patient is no longer suffering from common symptoms of hypertension as ceasing the intake of the medicine has been reported in cases of rebound hypertension (the re-emergence of high blood pressure), therefore, physicians gradually reduce the dose before completely stopping it.

Atenolol works by inhibiting epinephrine from performing its action by blocking beta receptors and therefore preventing the narrowing of blood vessels and aiding the free and proper flow of blood to the organs and through the blood vessels.
