It is an antiplatelet medicine or blood thinner that makes your blood flow through your veins easily. Moreover Platlo 75mg Tablet 7 'S helps prevent the formation of blood clots in patients who have a high risk of having them. 

It is available on prescription, as tablets. Platlo 75mg Tablet 7 'S works by decreasing the formation of blood clots by preventing platelets from sticking together. Thereby, lowering the chance of heart attack or stroke.

Common side effects of this medication are prolonged bleeding (you may have nosebleeds, heavier periods, bleeding gums or bruising) and upset stomach when taken with alcohol.

Dosage of Platlo 75mg Tablet 7 'S depends on age, severity of condition, patient's response to medicine and their comorbidities. It is not recommended for children below 18 years of age.

Indications

It can be used:

• For prevention of atherothrombotic events (formation of clots in arteries due to build-up of fats) in patients suffering from
• myocardial infarction - heart attack (from a few days until less than 35 days),
• ischaemic stroke - blood clot that blocks the vessel in the brain (from day 7 until less than 6 months) or 
• established peripheral artery disease (narrowed arteries reducing blood flow to limbs)
• In combination with aspirin in non-ST segment elevation in acute coronary syndrome; when heart muscle can not function properly or dies due to decreased blood flow in the arteries supplying it (unstable angina-chest pain or non-Q-Wave MI-heart attack).

How to use Platlo 75mg Tablet 7 'S?

• Platlo 75mg Tablet 7 'S is available as tablets.
• Platlo 75mg Tablet 7 'S is usually prescribed to be taken once a day around the same time every day, with or without food. 
• Take Platlo 75mg Tablet 7 'S as prescribed by your doctor. 
• Do not chew or crush the tablet.
• To allow your body to adjust to the medication, your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of risperidone and then gradually increase it with time.

Usual dose is 75 mg daily with or without food.

Non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome: 300 mg loading dose followed by 75 mg daily given in combination with 75-100 mg aspirin daily.

Doses are modified accordingly if a patient has renal or hepatic impairment.

Contraindications

• Allergic reaction to Platlo 75mg Tablet 7 'S - indicated by skin rash, swelling around face area, wheezing, chest tightness and breathing difficulty
• Severe hepatic (liver) impairment
• Active bleeding such as peptic ulcer (stomach sore) or intracranial haemorrhage (brain bleed)
• Myocardial infarction (heart attack); do not initiate therapy within first few days
• PTCA (stenting)
• CABG (surgery improving blood flow to heart)
• Acute ischaemic stroke (blood clot in a vessel in the brain) of less than 7 days.

Precautions

Please tell your doctor about any of the following conditions while using Platlo 75mg Tablet 7 'S:

• Elderly
• Renal impairment
• Hepatic impairment
• Surgery
• Risk of bleeding and blood dyscrasias (disorders); perform blood counts promptly if suspected and when used with other drugs or conditions that affect bleeding. Warn patients to report unusual bleeding
• Risk of acquired haemophilia (condition characterized by inability of blood to clot); discontinue if confirmed

Interaction with other medications

Certain medications could interact with Platlo 75mg Tablet 7 'S, hence, in that case your doctor might alter your dosage and make sure to monitor blood sugar levels more closely.

Please inform your doctor about the use of the following before taking Platlo 75mg Tablet 7 'S:

• Anticoagulants
• Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors
• Thrombolytics
• NSAIDs
• SSRIs
• Pentoxifylline
• PPIs and other moderate or strong CYP2C19 inhibitors
• CYP2C8 substrates (e.g repaglinide).

• Biliary disorder 
• Haematological (blood-related) disorders
• Rarely, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (rare blood disorder characterized by clotting in small blood vessels) and Stevens-Johnson syndrome (serious skin disorder of the skin or mucous membranes in reaction to medication).

How to cope with some of the adverse effects

• Bleeding more easily than normal - Be cautious of taking part in activities that could result in an injury or a deep cut. Always wear a helmet while cycling, gloves while using sharp objects like scissors and knives, use an electric razor instead of wet shaving, a soft toothbrush while brushing and a waxed dental floss. Contact your doctor if more than normal bleeding occurs. 

• Diarrhoea - Keep yourself hydrated by having lots of fluids and if the problem persists, consult your doctor before taking any medication for vomiting and diarrhoea

• Indigestion/heartburn - Avoid food items that cause wind. Try having smaller and more frequent meals.

• Stomach ache - Try to rest as much as possible and have smaller and more frequent meals. Using a heat pack or hot water bottle over the area in pain might help in giving some relief. If the pain still persists and is severe, speak to your doctor.
