About

PK-Merz 100mg Tablet 10 'S is prescribed to treat Parkinson’s disease (a disorder of the nervous system causing difficulties like dyskinesia (sudden uncontrolled movements), loss of control and balance) as well as extrapyramidal side effects caused by other Parkinson’s medications. However, it may also be given in a combination form with the drugs like levodopa and carbidopa.

PK-Merz 100mg Tablet 10 'S works by improving control over muscles and reducing stiffness. Its mechanism of action is still not fully understood but it is thought to be releasing dopamine from nerve endings of the brain along with stimulation of norepinephrine.

PK-Merz 100mg Tablet 10 'S is also used as an antiviral for symptomatic and prophylactic treatment of viruses like influenza, Influenza A, and Herpes zoster.

PK-Merz 100mg Tablet 10 'S comes in five different available forms including tablet, capsule which can both be immediate release or extended-release, and a syrup form. The immediate-release capsule tablets and the syrup form can be taken once or twice a day, however, the extended-release capsules are commonly prescribed once daily at bedtime and the extended-release tablets are prescribed once daily in the morning.

How Does PK-Merz 100mg Tablet 10 'S Work

PK-Merz 100mg Tablet 10 'S works as anti dyskinetic by releasing dopamine at the brain cells’ nerve endings along with stimulating norepinephrine, more research needs to be conducted on its mechanism of action as it is still unclear as to how it works.

PK-Merz 100mg Tablet 10 'S works as an antiviral but the activity is unknown. It targets and inhibits the replication of influenza A M2 ion channel protein.

The two mechanisms are unrelated.
