About

About

Novidat 250mg/5ml Suspension 60 ml is a synthetic broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent that belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibacterial (fluoroquinolones). These are antibiotics that are used in the treatment of serious infections when other antibiotics fail to work. Novidat 250mg/5ml Suspension 60 ml should only be used to treat or prevent infections caused by bacteria that have been proven or highly suspected.

Novidat 250mg/5ml Suspension 60 ml is used to fight against bacterial infections like chest infections (including pneumonia, skin and bone infections, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), eye infections (such as conjunctivitis), and urinary tract infections (UTIs), and ear infections.

Novidat 250mg/5ml Suspension 60 ml is available on prescription, and as a liquid that you take by mouth (orally) usually twice a day (every 12hrs) in the morning and evening, with or without food or as directed by your doctor.

Take this medication at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after taking other products that may bind to it, diminishing its effectiveness. Calcium-rich meals, such as dairy products (such as milk, and yogurt) or calcium-enriched juice, might also reduce the effectiveness of this drug.

Common side effects of Novidat 250mg/5ml Suspension 60 ml are nausea, indigestion (stomach ache), vomiting, and diarrhea. However, Novidat 250mg/5ml Suspension 60 ml and other fluoroquinolones have been linked to debilitating and perhaps irreversible significant adverse events when administered concurrently such as Tendon Rupture, Peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system effects. This medication may worsen muscle weakness in patients with myasthenia gravis.

Novidat 250mg/5ml Suspension 60 ml is prescribed to adults and children above 1 year. The dosage of this medicine depends on age, the severity of the condition, patients' response to the medicine, and their comorbidities.

Because Novidat 250mg/5ml Suspension 60 ml is associated with serious adverse reactions, it should only be used in people who have no other options for treating infections and when other antibiotics have failed to work.

How Does Novidat 250mg/5ml Suspension 60 ml Work

Novidat 250mg/5ml Suspension 60 ml contains Ciprofloxacin as an active ingredient. It kills bacteria by preventing them from producing the substances they require to multiply and repair themselves. Ciprofloxacin's bactericidal effect as a fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent is due to the inhibition of both type II topoisomerase (DNA-gyrase) and topoisomerase IV, which are essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination.
