Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S is an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic drug. It is used to avoid and control partial-onset seizures. Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S works by decreasing the spread of seizure activity in the brain. Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S comes in tablet, syrup, and injection form. Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S is combined with other medications to treat tonic-clonic (involve whole-body) seizures. Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S is not recommended for individuals below the age of 16.
Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S should be used with caution in patients with cardiac history as it may cause heart block, coronary artery disease, and fibrillations. Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S causes adverse effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, nausea, and vomiting.
Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S is indicated in the following conditions:
Temporal Lobe Epilepsy
Complex Partial Seizures
Generalized Seizures or Bilateral Tonic-Clonic Seizures
Simple Partial Seizure
HOW DOES Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S WORK?
The Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S selectively enhances the slow inactivation of voltage-gated sodium channels, which results in the stabilization of hyperexcitable neuronal membranes and causes inhibition of repetitive neuronal firing. This helps in controlling seizures.
HOW TO USE Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S?
The dosage of Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To lower the chances of side effects doctors may start dosage from a lower dose and increase it gradually. Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S works best when it is kept at a constant level in the body and is taken at evenly spaced times. Do not stop taking Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S abruptly as it may worsen the seizures.
- Take Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S via mouth with or without food usually twice a day.
- While using the liquid form of the Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S, carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon. It is not recommended to use a household spoon because you may not get the required dosage.
For partial-onset seizures Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S can be given with either oral or intravenous administration.
The primary dose should be 50mg twice daily (100mg per day). Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S can be increased at weekly intervals by 100mg/day given as two divided doses up to the recommended maintenance dose of 200 to 400 mg/day, according to the patient’s tolerance and response.
SWITCHING FROM ORAL TO INTRAVENOUS DOSING
When switching from oral Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S the initial total daily intravenous dosage of Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S should be equivalent to the total daily dosage and frequency of oral Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S and should be given IV over 30 to 60 minutes.
SWITCHING FROM INTRAVENOUS TO ORAL DOSING
At the end of the intravenous treatment period, the patient may be switched to oral Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S administration at the equivalent daily dosage and frequency of the intravenous administration.
PATIENTS WITH RENAL IMPAIRMENT
No dose adjustment is necessary for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. A maximum dose of 300mg/day of Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S is recommended for patients with severe renal impairment.
PATIENTS WITH HEPATIC IMPAIRMENT
The dose calculation should be done with caution in patients with hepatic impairment. A maximum dose of 300mg/day is recommended for patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment. Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
There are no satisfactory and well-controlled studies about the Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S in pregnant women. Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S should be used during pregnancy only if the possible benefit validates the possible risk to the fetus.
Lactating Mothers: It is not known whether Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S is excreted in human milk. Some reports suggest that it is. Consult a doctor before using.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
The Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S is contraindicated in various conditions. Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:

Antihistamines such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine
Drugs for sleep or anxiety such as alprazolam, diazepam, and zolpidem
Muscle relaxants
Opioid pain relievers such as codeine.

HOW TO COPE WITH SOME OF THE ADVERSE EFFECTS
WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS: If Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S is stopped abruptly and the course of treatment is not completed then the patient may go through withdrawal symptoms such as headache, dizziness, and blurred vision. Hence you should taper off Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S gradually.
OTHER SYMPTOMS: Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you face severe symptoms such as suicidal thoughts, or heart problems.
ALLERGIC SYMPTOMS: If you face allergic symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, severe dizziness, swollen lymph nodes, rash, or swelling (especially of face, tongue, and throat) then you need medical help right away.

Individuals that are allergic to lacosamide or any of the inactive ingredients should not use the Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S. People with phenylketonuria should use it only after consultation with a doctor.
Do not drink alcohol with the Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S as it can increase sleepiness and drowsiness.
Do not drive if you experience drowsiness after taking Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S.
Keep Lalap 50mg Tablet 7 'S in a tightly closed container or the pack it came in. Store away from sunlight and moisture, and dispose of unused medicine. Keep it out of reach of children.
