{{PRODUCT}} is an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic drug. It is used to avoid and control partial-onset seizures. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml works by decreasing the spread of seizure activity in the brain. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml comes in tablet, syrup, and injection form. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is combined with other medications to treat tonic-clonic (involve whole-body) seizures. {{PRODUCT}} is not recommended in individuals below the age of 16.

Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml should be used with caution in patients with cardiac history as it may cause heart block, coronary artery disease, and fibrillations. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml causes adverse effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, nausea, and vomiting. 

Indications

Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is indicated in the following conditions:

  •         Temporal Lobe Epilepsy
  •         Complex Partial Seizures
  •         Generalized Seizures or Bilateral Tonic-Clonic Seizures
  •         Simple Partial Seizure

 HOW DOES Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml WORK?

The Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml selectively enhances the slow inactivation of voltage-gated sodium channels, which results in stabilization of hyperexcitable neuronal membranes and causes inhibition of repetitive neuronal firing. This helps in controlling seizures.

 HOW TO USE Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml?

The dosage of Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To lower the chances of side effects doctors may start dosage from a lower dose and increase gradually. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml works best when it is kept at a constant level in the body and is taken at evenly spaced times. Do not stop taking Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml abruptly as it may worsen the seizures.

  • Take Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml via mouth with or without food usually twice a day.
  • While using the liquid form of the Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml, carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon. It is not recommended to use a household spoon because you may not get the required dosage.
  • Your doctor will decide the dose of Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml based on your body weight. The usual starting dose is 1 mg (0.1 ml), for each kilogram (kg) of body weight, twice a day. 

Dosage

  • MONOTHERAPY:

The usual starting dose ofLalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is 50 mg (5 ml) twice a day. Your doctor may also prescribe a starting dose of 100 mg (10 ml) of Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml twice a day. Your doctor may increase your daily dose every week by 50 mg (5 ml). This will be until you reach a maintenance dose of between 100 mg (10 ml) and 300 mg (30 ml) twice a day. 

  • DUAL THERAPY:

When you take {{PRODUCT}} in combination with other antiepileptic medicines the usual starting dose of {{product} is 50 mg (5 ml) twice a day. Your doctor may increase your twice-daily dose every week by 50 mg (5 ml). This will be until you reach a maintenance dose of between 100 mg (10 ml) and 200 mg (20 ml) twice a day. 

 SWITCHING FROM ORAL TO INTRAVENOUS DOSING:

When switching from oral Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml the initial total daily intravenous dosage of Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml should be equivalent to the total daily dosage and frequency of oral Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml and should be given IV over 30 to 60 minutes.

 SWITCHING FROM INTRAVENOUS TO ORAL DOSING:

At the end of the intravenous treatment period, the patient may be switched to oral Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml administration at the equivalent daily dosage and frequency of the intravenous administration.

 PATIENTS WITH RENAL IMPAIRMENT:

No dose adjustment is necessary for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. A maximum dose of 300mg/day of Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is recommended for patients with severe renal impairment.

PATIENTS WITH HEPATIC IMPAIRMENT:

The dose calculation should be done with caution in patients with hepatic impairment. A maximum dose of 300mg/day is recommended for patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Pregnancy And Lactation

There are no satisfactory and well-controlled studies about the Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml in pregnant women. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml should be used during pregnancy only if the possible benefit validates the possible risk to the fetus.

Lactating Mothers: It is not known whether Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is excreted in human milk. Some reports suggest that it is. Consult a doctor before using.  

Contraindications

The Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml is contraindicated in various conditions. Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:

  •         Suicidal thoughts
  •         Orthostatic hypotension
  •         Liver problems
  •         Chronic kidney disease
  •         Pregnancy

Before starting the Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml tell your doctor if you:

  • Are allergic to Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml
  • Have other allergies
  • Have a medical history of heart problems such as chest pain, heart failure, and heart block.
  • Liver problems
  • Kidney problems 
  • Mood problems such as depression
  • Addicted to drugs or alcohol
  • Do not drive after having the Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml as it may cause drowsiness.

Interaction With Other Medications

Interactions may alter how the Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml work. Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml may have interactions with:

  • Antihistamines such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine
  • Drugs for sleep or anxiety such as alprazolam, diazepam, zolpidem
  • Muscle relaxants
  • Opioid pain relievers such as codeine.

Adverse Effects

The most common side effects include:

WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS: If the product is stopped abruptly and the course of treatment is not completed, the patient may go through withdrawal symptoms such as headache, dizziness, and blurred vision. Hence you should taper off the Lalap 10mg/ml Syrup 100 ml gradually. 

OTHER SYMPTOMS: Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you face severe symptoms such as suicidal thoughts, heart problems.

ALLERGIC SYMPTOMS: If you face allergic symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, severe dizziness, swollen lymph nodes, rash, swelling (especially of face, tongue, throat) then you need medical help right away.
