Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S works by decreasing the spread of seizure activity in the brain. Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S comes in tablet, syrup, and injection form. Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S is combined with other medications to treat tonic-clonic (involve whole-body) seizures. Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S is not recommended for individuals below the age of 16.
Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S should be used with caution in patients with cardiac history as it may cause heart block, coronary artery disease, and fibrillations. Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S causes adverse effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, nausea, and vomiting.
Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S is indicated in the following conditions:
Temporal Lobe Epilepsy
Complex Partial Seizures
Generalized Seizures or Bilateral Tonic-Clonic Seizures
Simple Partial Seizure
HOW DOES Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S WORK?
The Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S selectively enhances the slow inactivation of voltage-gated sodium channels, which results in the stabilization of hyperexcitable neuronal membranes and causes inhibition of repetitive neuronal firing. This helps in controlling seizures.
HOW TO USE Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S?
The dosage of Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To lower the chances of side effects doctors may start dosage from a lower dose and increase it gradually. Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S works best when it is kept at a constant level in the body and is taken at evenly spaced times. Do not stop taking Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S abruptly as it may worsen the seizures.
- Take Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S via mouth with or without food usually twice a day.
- While using the liquid form of the Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S, carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon. It is not recommended to use a household spoon because you may not get the required dosage.
For partial-onset seizures Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S can be given with either oral or intravenous administration.
The primary dose should be 50mg twice daily (100mg per day). Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S can be increased at weekly intervals by 100mg/day given as two divided doses up to the recommended maintenance dose of 200 to 400 mg/day, according to the patient’s tolerance and response.
SWITCHING FROM ORAL TO INTRAVENOUS DOSING
When switching from oral Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S the initial total daily intravenous dosage of Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S should be equivalent to the total daily dosage and frequency of oral Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S and should be given IV over 30 to 60 minutes.
SWITCHING FROM INTRAVENOUS TO ORAL DOSING
At the end of the intravenous treatment period, the patient may be switched to oral Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S administration at the equivalent daily dosage and frequency of the intravenous administration.
PATIENTS WITH RENAL IMPAIRMENT
No dose adjustment is necessary for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. A maximum dose of 300mg/day of Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S is recommended for patients with severe renal impairment.
PATIENTS WITH HEPATIC IMPAIRMENT
The dose calculation should be done with caution in patients with hepatic impairment. A maximum dose of 300mg/day is recommended for patients with mild or moderate hepatic impairment. Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
There are no satisfactory and well-controlled studies about the Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S in pregnant women. Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S should be used during pregnancy only if the possible benefit validates the possible risk to the fetus.
Lactating Mothers: It is not known whether Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S is excreted in human milk. Some reports suggest that it is. Consult a doctor before using.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
The Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S is contraindicated in various conditions. Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:

Drugs for sleep or anxiety such as alprazolam, diazepam, and zolpidem

HOW TO COPE WITH SOME OF THE ADVERSE EFFECTS
WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS: If Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S is stopped abruptly and the course of treatment is not completed then the patient may go through withdrawal symptoms such as headache, dizziness, and blurred vision. Hence you should taper it off gradually.
OTHER SYMPTOMS: Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you face severe symptoms such as suicidal thoughts, or heart problems.
ALLERGIC SYMPTOMS: If you face allergic symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, severe dizziness, swollen lymph nodes, rash, or swelling (especially of face, tongue, and throat) then you need medical help right away.

Do not drive if you experience drowsiness after taking Lacolit 50mg Tablet 14 'S.
