Dosage 

Adult Dose

The prescribed dosage for adults, children, and older infants who have normally functioning renal is 15 mg/kg/day divided into 2 or 3 equal doses injected at intervals with equally divided time e.g., 7.5 mg/kg q12h or 5 mg/kg. For the treatment of patients obese or heavyweight dosage should not exceed 1.5g/day.

Neonatal Dose

The initial dose is 10mg/kg which is further raised to 15mg/kg per day in two divided doses.

Pregnancy Use and Lactation 

The medicine is not recommended for pregnant women as it can cause some physical defects in newborn babies. However, in some conditions, this medicine might be prescribed under the strict watch of a medical expert where the benefits outweigh the risks.
