Adult Dosage

These doses are generally recommended for the following conditions:

Hypertriglyceridemia / Hypercholesterolemia 

Starting Dose: 900 mg taken orally, twice daily in divided doses (30 minutes before breakfast and evening meal) which can be increased up to 1200 mg as per need

Or 600 mg to be  taken orally, twice daily at 12 hourly intervals (30 minutes before breakfast and evening meal)

Elderly Dosage

• Adequacy of kidney functions must be ensured, and dose adjustment is required in case of compromised function. Serum creatinine values must be checked regularly 
• Adequacy of liver functions must be ensured. ALT/AST levels should be checked periodically. In case of severe deranged liver function, Gempid 600mg Tablet 10 'S will be discontinued 
• Special care must be taken with  Gempid 600mg Tablet 10 'S especially if anti-hyperlipidemic like Statins are being taken concurrently. There is an increased risk of muscular problems like rhabdomyolysis, and weakness. Caution is advised especially if you are a diabetic or elderly 
• Most patients with cardiovascular disease are taking some type of blood thinners, which can cause bleeding problems. Dose adjustment and monitoring of INR/PT are advised with concomitant use of anticoagulants
• An increased risk of gallstones exists with the use of Gempid 600mg Tablet 10 'S. If you already have a gallbladder disease you must not use this medicine
• The use of Gempid 600mg Tablet 10 'S in pregnant females carries a risk to unborn babies so it must not be used unless considered necessary  
• Before using Gempid 600mg Tablet 10 'S reduced thyroid function must be informed to doctor
