How Does Clobederm-NN Ointment 15 gm Work

Clobederm-NN Ointment 15 gm is chemically composed of neomycin, clobetasol, and nystatin. It works by acting on the skin via three basic mechanisms. Firstly, clobetasol, being a steroid controls redness and swelling by decreasing protein formation that leads to this inflammation. Also, it controls the infiltration and migration of inflammatory cells like leukocytes and inhibits enzymes that speed up the process of prostaglandin formation, a key mediator in inflammatory reactions. Secondly, neomycin disrupts bacterial growth, whereas nystatin kills the fungal cells by puncturing holes in the plasma membrane, thereby disrupting the cells.

Clobederm-NN Ointment 15 gm is prescribed for the management of a variety of skin conditions with an existing infection (bacterial/fungal) including

  • Severe eczema-like recalcitrant eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • Infected Dermatoses
