Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml is available in a liquid form that comes packaged in a bottle attached to a dropper head to aid its transfer to either the eyes or the ear. Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml is prescribed as a treatment for bacterial eye and ear infections as this drug is able to prevent the multiplication of bacteria and reduce the number of bacteria present at any given time.Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml is to be used for bacterial infections only. It is not efficient for fungal infections.

How Does Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml Work

Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml contains ciprofloxacin as an active agent that works by preventing the replication of bacteria through the inhibition of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes. These enzymes are required in the replication process of bacterial DNA. Hence by their blockade, ciprofloxacin ceases the multiplication of bacteria and spread of infection.

Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml can be used to treat:

• Conjunctivitis 
• Corneal ulcers 
• Eustachian tube surgical procedures in children 
• Ear infections 

Dosage

Eye infections: 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye 2 hourly while awake for 2 days. The dosing interval is changed to 4 hourly for the next 5 days.

Ear Infections: 4 drops twice a day for 7 days in the infected ear.

Pregnancy Use And Lactation

Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml may be prescribed to pregnant women only when necessary and under the supervision of a physician. There is not sufficient evidence to prove that Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml passes into breast milk and is not commonly prescribed to breastfeeding mothers unless absolutely necessary.

How To Use Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml

Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml must be applied with clean hands, make sure the eyedropper or tube tip doesn't touch the surface of the eye or any other surface. Make sure to shake Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml container well before each use and to replace the cap of the Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml immediately after each use.

Before applying any other topical medication that might be prescribed along with Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml, the patient is to wait 5-10 minutes. Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml is not to be stopped abruptly even after experiencing a decrease in symptoms as Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml is meant to be tapered off and stopping it before time may even result in a return of the bacterial infection

• Minor stinging (immediately after the application of Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml)
• Itchiness of eyes
• Visibility problems due to blurriness 
• Swallowing problems

• Dizziness 

These effects tend to be mild and resolve in a few days of taking Ciloxan Eye 0.30% Drop 5 ml.

Precautions
