Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S belongs to a group of chemicals known as antibiotics and in the body to eliminate bacteria and their toxins, that cause respiratory infections, ear infections, UTIs, and skin infections. Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S is meant to be ingested for a specific number of days determined by the physician depending on the patient’s illness and their response to treatment. It is imperative not to stop Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S earlier than the specified time as that may lead to a return of the infection.

 

How Does Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S Work

Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S belongs to a widespread group of chemicals known as antibiotics. It contains Cephalexin as an active agent that works by blocking the synthesis of bacterial cell walls which leads to bacterial cell death. Thereby, it stops the multiplication of bacteria and hence the spread of infection.

 


Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S can be used to treat: 

  • Respiratory tract infections 
  • Otitis media 
  • Skin infections caused by gram-positive bacteria 
  • Urinary tract infections 
  • Bacterial infections of the bone 

Dosage

Adult Dosage 

1 to 2 gm per day in two to four divided doses is the usual daily dose for adults.

Respiratory Tract Infections: 250 mg 6 hourly. The maximum dose is 4 gm per day.

Skin Infections: 500 mg 12 hourly. The maximum dose is 4 gm per day.

UTIs: 250 mg 6 hourly.

Child Dosage 

Children have usually prescribed the liquid form of Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S dosage depending on their weight and age. 

Under 3 months: 65.5 to 125 mg twice daily in two to four divided doses.

4 months to 2 years: 250 mg to 500 mg daily in two to four divided doses.

3 to 6 years: 1 to 2 grams daily in two to four divided doses.

Respiratory Tract Infections: 25 to 50 mg/kg/day given in divided doses.

Otitis Media: 75 to 100 mg/kg/day 6 hourly.

Skin Infections: 25 to 50 mg/kg/day given 12 hourly.

Pregnancy Use And Lactation

Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S may be prescribed to pregnant women only when necessary and under the supervision of a healthcare provider as there is no evidence of risk. Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S is found in breast milk in trace amounts but the effects are undetermined so caution is advised.

 

How To Use Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S

Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S is to be ingested orally (by mouth) twice or thrice, daily, or as directed by the doctor. It can be ingested either with or without food but preferred to ingest with food to avoid abdominal discomfort. It is imperative not to stop Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S earlier than the specified time as that may lead to a return of the infection.


Like most medicines,Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S has certain side effects which include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal cramps
  • Fatigue
  • Changes in sense of taste

Precautions

  • Elderly patients 

Contraindications

  • Allergy to Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S or any other medicine (especially any antibiotic) or food substance 
  • Moderate to severe kidney disease
  • Moderate to severe liver disease
  • Clostridium dificile-associated diarrhea 

Please tell your doctor about the use of the following before using Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S:

  • Other antibiotics 
  • Vaccines (eg. typhoid vaccine)
  • Metformin 
  • Probenecid 
  • Oral anticoagulants
  • Loop diuretics

#1. What if I miss a dose of Ceporex 250mg Capsule 6 'S?

If you miss a dose of the medication, make sure you take it as soon as possible on that same day. If you don’t remember you missed the dose until the next dosage time or the next day, do not double the dose and take your medication as per schedule.
