This antibiotic is used to treat bacterial infections such as bronchitis (infection of the airway tubes leading to the lungs), gonorrhea (a sexually transmitted disease), and infections of the ears, throat, tonsils, and urinary tract. . It will not work for viral infections(such as common cold, or flu).

Antibiotics are given in divided doses per day at regular intervals of 6 to 12 hours, generally for 7 to 10 days or as advised by your doctor. 6-11 months: 75 mg daily

1-4 years: 200-400 mg daily

5-9 years: 200 mg daily

10-17 years: 200-400 mg twice daily 

>12 yr or >50kg: 400 mg once daily or 200 mg every 12 hour

<50 kg or >6 mth: 8 mg/kg once daily or 4 mg/kg every 12 hour

Uncomplicated gonorrhea and otitis media:

Adults and children 12 years:  400mg once daily or 200 mg every 12 hr

6 months to 12 years: 8mg/kg once daily or 4 mg/kg every 12 hr
