Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S belongs to a class of drugs called “cephalosporins” (antibacterials) used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is known to be a broad-spectrum antibiotic i.e it works against a wide range of disease-causing bacteria. This antibiotic is used to treat bacterial infections such as bronchitis (infection of the airway tubes leading to the lungs), gonorrhea (a sexually transmitted disease), and infections of the ears, throat, tonsils, and urinary tract. . It will not work for viral infections(such as common cold, or flu). 

Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S works by preventing bacteria from forming a protective cell layer called a cell wall, thereby killing them. Using any antibiotic when it is not required may decrease its efficacy for future infections. On the other hand, some people might be allergic to penicillin antibiotics and hence will not be able to take Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S.

Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S is available on prescription, as tablets, chewable tablets, capsules, and a suspension (liquid) to be taken by mouth. It works by preventing bacteria from forming a protective cell layer called a cell wall, thereby killing them. Common side effects of this medication are nausea, diarrhea, and indigestion (stomach ache). Dosage of Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S depends on age, the severity of the condition, the patient's response to the medicine, and their comorbidities. In children, it is also based on their weight.

Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S is prescribed to adults and children from above 6 months of age.

It is used in the treatment of:

  • Infections of the respiratory tract (nose, throat, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs)
  • Urinary tract (UTIs), skin and soft tissue infections
  • Biliary tract infections 

All caused by sensitive organisms.

How does Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S work

It is an antibiotic belonging to a class of drugs called cephalosporins. They work by preventing the bacteria from forming a protective cell layer called a cell wall, thereby killing them.

How to use Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S

Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S is available in oral capsules to be swallowed as a whole by mouth with a glass of water. For better absorption, it is advised to take Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S with a meal to avoid side effects. Antibiotics are given in divided doses per day at regular intervals of 6 to 12 hours, generally for 7 to 10 days or as advised by your doctor. The dose is suggested by the doctor keeping in mind your body weight, age, the severity of infection, response to treatment, and kidney function.

Acute infections due to sensitive gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections:

Adults:

 (200 - 400mg daily in 1-2 divided doses)

Children

6-11 months: 75 mg daily

1-4 years: 200-400 mg daily

5-9 years: 200 mg daily

10-17 years: 200-400 mg twice daily 

>12 yr or >50kg: 400 mg once daily or 200 mg every 12 hour

<50 kg or >6 mth: 8 mg/kg once daily or 4 mg/kg every 12 hour

Uncomplicated gonorrhea and otitis media:

Adults and children 12 years:  400mg once daily or 200 mg every 12 hr

6 months to 12 years: 8mg/kg once daily or 4 mg/kg every 12 hr

Elderly Dosage

Dosage is completely dependent on the age, the severity of the condition, the patient's response to the medicine, and their comorbidities. Your doctor may vary your dosage to regulate your blood sugar levels.

Pregnancy Use and Lactation

If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, please consult your doctor before using Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S.

Contraindications

Please tell your doctor about any of the following conditions while using Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S:

  • Hypersensitivity (allergy) to B-Lactams
  • Severe renal impairment (kidney damage)
  • History of kidney disease, a certain intestinal disease (colitis)
  • Phenylketonuria (PKU) – an inherited condition characterized by decreased metabolism of phenylalanine, an amino acid 
  • Immunizations/vaccinations as some live vaccines might not work well with Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S
  • Surgery 
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding 

Interaction With Other Medications

Certain medications could interact with Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S, hence, in that case, your doctor might alter your dosage and make sure to monitor blood sugar levels more closely.

Please inform your doctor about the use of the following before taking Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S:

  • Anticoagulants such as warfarin 
  • Probenecid
  • Carbamazepine

  • Nausea (feeling sick) - Take Cebosh 400mg Tablet 5 'S with meals to avoid feeling sick.
  • Diarrhea - Keep yourself hydrated by having lots of fluids and if the problem persists, consult your doctor before taking any medication for vomiting and diarrhea
  • Stomach ache - Try to rest as much as possible and have smaller and more frequent meals. Using a heat pack or hot water bottle over the area in pain might help in giving some relief. If the pain persists and is severe, speak to your doctor.
  • Headache - Take a painkiller, rest and keep yourself hydrated at all times.
  • High temperature - Take paracetamol to bring the temperature down and have plenty of fluids. If it persists for long, contact your doctor. 
  • Mild rash - Taking an antihistamine might help. Ask your pharmacist for a suitable one. If it doesn't go away or gets worse, contact your doctor.
