This drug is prescribed to patients with high blood pressure (normal blood pressure for adults is usually 120/80 mmHg) and to patients with mild to moderate and chronic heart failure. Heart failure is a condition in which the heart is unable to pump enough blood to the extremities.
Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S belongs to a group of chemicals known as beta blockers which work on the heart muscles, to lower the number of contractions (heartbeats) per minute of the heart and thereby, making sure that the flow and release of blood from the heart usually continues.
Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S also works on the human blood vessels and helps in bringing raised blood pressure levels to normal by preventing the narrowing of vessels so that blood may flow with ease through them and reach all the organs in the body.
Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S belongs to a group of drugs known as Beta Blockers. Epinephrine is a natural hormone found in the body that works by narrowing the blood vessels, as well as triggering other sympathetic responses in the body. Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S works by inhibiting epinephrine from performing its action by blocking beta receptors and therefore preventing the narrowing of blood vessels and aiding the flow of blood and oxygen to the organs and through the blood vessels.
Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S can be used to treat:
Angina and Essential Hypertension: The initial dose is 12.5 mg taken once daily for two days. The dose is then increased to 25 mg once or twice daily. The dose should not exceed 50 mg in a day.
Adjunct to ACEIs and Diuretics in Chronic Heart Failure: The treatment is started with 3.125 mg twice daily, which is then gradually increased to 6.25 mg twice daily; 12.5 mg twice daily; to 25 mg twice daily. The interval of altering the dose should be at least two weeks.
For patients under the age of 18 years, Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S is not considered safe and is therefore not prescribed.
Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S is contraindicated in lactation however, the risk for usage in pregnancy cannot be ruled out. The dose of hypertension during pregnancy is similar to that of usual hypertension. It is prescribed only if the health-to-risk ratio justifies therapy.
Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S is prescribed to be taken 1-2 times daily; orally (by mouth) with food, in order to reduce the risk of postural hypotension. Monitor pulse and blood pressure regularly during the treatment.

#1. Can lifestyle changes help me with my condition?
Yes. Adopting certain healthy lifestyle changes helps manage high blood pressure. These include cessation of smoking, avoiding alcohol, eating a wholesome diet consisting of fresh vegetables and fruits with the cut down on salt, and incorporating physical activity in your daily routine.
#2. What if I take too much of Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S?
In case of too much consumption by accident, kindly contact your doctor or nearby hospital straight away. The amount of medication that can result in severe side effects varies from person to person. An overdose results in a slowing down of heart rate and difficulty breathing accompanied by dizziness and fainting spells.

#5. What lab tests will be prescribed while treatment with Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S and how often?
Kidney and liver function tests along with blood tests to keep a check on serum potassium levels are advised to be done periodically. The patient’s blood sugar levels are also to be monitored regularly. It is also advised that patients learn to monitor their own blood pressure levels daily from the comfort of their homes and inform their doctor of any changes seen.
#6. Can I consume alcohol with Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S?
Alcohol is also known to lower your blood pressure which if taken with the medication may lead to extreme dizziness. It is best to avoid the intake of alcohol during the course of your treatment.
#7. What if I forget to take the Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S?
It is advised that the drug is taken at the same time each day, and an alarm can be placed to remind patients to take Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S at the proper time. If the patient misses a dose of Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S, they should take it immediately but if the time for the next dose of the drug is near then it's beneficial for patients to skip the missed dose and take the tablets as per schedule, doubling of doses has proven to cause severe side effects.
#8. Is Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S safe to give to elderly patients?
Yes. For elderly patients the dosage of the drug may be lower than normal due to decreased kidney function,Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S may not be effectively removed from the body and so, in such cases, the doctor may prescribe an altered dose of the Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S.

There is no evidence to support the above statement. If a patient does become pregnant it is imperative that they inform their doctor immediately as Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S can have fatal effects on the developing fetus.
#10. Can Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S cause dizziness? If so, how should I manage it?
Yes. It can cause dizziness as one of the most common side effects. If this happens, you should sit or lie down until the symptoms pass. However, please note this is temporary and usually goes away as the treatment continues. It is also advised to avoid the consumption of alcohol during the course of your treatment, as it may worsen the dizziness.
