Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S

This drug is prescribed to patients with high blood pressure (normal blood pressure for adults is usually 120/80 mmHg) and to patients with mild to moderate and chronic heart failure. Heart failure is a condition in which the heart is unable to pump enough blood to the extremities.

Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S belongs to a group of chemicals known as beta blockers which work on the heart muscles, to lower the number of contractions (heartbeats) per minute of the heart and thereby, making sure that the flow and release of blood from the heart usually continues.

Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S works by inhibiting epinephrine from performing its action by blocking beta receptors and therefore preventing the narrowing of blood vessels and aiding the flow of blood and oxygen to the organs and through the blood vessels.

Dosage

Adult Dosage

Angina and Essential Hypertension: The initial dose is 12.5 mg taken once daily for two days. The dose is then increased to 25 mg once or twice daily. The dose should not exceed 50 mg in a day.

Adjunct to ACEIs and Diuretics in Chronic Heart Failure: The treatment is started with 3.125 mg twice daily, which is then gradually increased to 6.25 mg twice daily; 12.5 mg twice daily; to 25 mg twice daily. The interval of altering the dose should be at least two weeks.

Child Dosage 

For patients under the age of 18 years, Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S is not considered safe and is therefore not prescribed.

Pregnancy Use And Lactation

Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S is contraindicated in lactation however, the risk for usage in pregnancy cannot be ruled out. The dose of hypertension during pregnancy is similar to that of usual hypertension. It is prescribed only if the health-to-risk ratio justifies therapy.

How To Use Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S

Carlov 6.25mg Tablet 10 'S is prescribed to be taken 1-2 times daily; orally (by mouth) with food, in order to reduce the risk of postural hypotension. Monitor pulse and blood pressure regularly during the treatment.
