About

About

Atarax 10mg Tablet 25 'S is an antihistamine that works by counteracting the effects of the body's endogenous chemical histamine. Itching or hives on the skin are common symptoms of histamine. Atarax 10mg Tablet 25 'S is available on prescription and together with antihistamine properties, it is also used to reduce the activity of the Central Nervous System.

Atarax 10mg Tablet 25 'S is used in the treatment of allergic skin reactions such as contact dermatitis, itching, or hives, and also as a sedative to control anxiety and tension. This medication is also used as a sedative in adults and children before and after surgery when combined with other drugs.

Atarax 10mg Tablet 25 'S is available as a tablet that is taken orally (by mouth) usually 3 to 4 times a day, with or without food or as directed by your doctor.

The dosage is determined by your age, medical condition, and treatment response. The dosage for children may also be determined by their weight. Do not use this medication in larger amounts or more frequently than prescribed.

Common side effects of this medicine include dry mouth, headache, fatigue, drowsiness, and disturbance in heartbeat. Atarax 10mg Tablet 25 'S can cause birth defects so it should not be given to pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you encounter tremors, confusion, seizures, or restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck, stop taking Atarax 10mg Tablet 25 'S and contact your doctor immediately.

Indications

Atarax 10mg Tablet 25 'S is a prescription medication and is available as a table that's given to adults and children to help them:

  • Treat itching
  • Help you achieve sedation (a state of tiredness and relaxation) before or after an operation/medical procedure
  • Other uses include treatment for respiratory, digestive, skin, and mucous membrane allergies

This medication can also be used for conditions that aren't covered here.

How Does Atarax 10mg Tablet 25 'S Work:

Atarax 10mg Tablet 25 'S contains Hydroxyzine as an active ingredient. Hydroxyzine is a powerful inverse agonist of histamine H1-receptors. Inverse agonists are drugs that have a negative efficacy, meaning they actively reduce the activity of a receptor rather than just blocking it. The success of hydroxyzine in the treatment of histaminic edema, flare, and pruritus is due to inverse agonism at these receptors.

Because hydroxyzine is not a cortical depressant, its sedative effects are most likely felt at the CNS's subcortical level. Because of its sedative qualities, it can also be used as an anxiolytic. Antiemetic efficacy is most likely secondary to off-target activity.
