Amplus 250mg Injection 1 vial is used to treat various bacterial infections, such as chest infections (including pneumonia), urinary tract infections, dental abscesses, ear infections, wound infections, septicemia, bone infections. Moreover, Amplus 250mg Injection 1 vial has some obstetric applications such as puerperal fever following delivery of the baby. Amplus 250mg Injection 1 vial is a combination antibiotic from the penicillin group of medicines that works by preventing the formation of the protective bacterial cell wall, essential for the survival of the bacteria. Amplus 250mg Injection 1 vial also contains cloxacillin, responsible for countering beta-lactamase, associated with penicillin resistance. In combination with Ampicillin, Amplus 250mg Injection 1 vial can target resistant bacteria as well including methicillin-resistant strains (MRSA).

How To Use Amplus 250mg Injection 1 vial

Amplus 250mg Injection 1 vial is to be ingested orally (by mouth) twice or thrice, daily, or as directed by the doctor. It can be ingested preferably without food, for better absorption of the medicine takes it at least 1 hour before your meal. The patient is advised to take each dose at the same time each day keeping an 8–12-hour gap in between each dose. If you miss a dose of the medication, make sure you take it as soon as possible on that same day. Dosage

Adult Dose

Mild to moderate infections: 250 - 500 mg oral capsules, 6 - 8 hourly.

An acute flare-up of chronic infections: 500 mg oral capsules, 8 -12 hourly.

Severe infections: 1-2 grams every 6 -10 hourly or as suggested by the doctor.

Duration of antibiotic therapy varies with existing infection, generally, it is taken for 7-10 days.

Pediatric Dose

Recommended drug for use in neonates up to 2 years is in form of oral drops. Amplus 250mg Injection 1 vial cannot be consumed easily for younger children. For older children usually Amplus 250mg Injection 1 vial is prescribed according to the weight. 12 years and above may be able to take capsules.

Mild- moderate Infection: 250 mg capsules two to three times in divided doses 6-8 hourly.

Moderate - severe infection: 500 mg capsules two to three times in divided doses 6-8 hourly.

Elderly Dose

As such no major risk or toxicity is imposed in the elderly, however since the majority of this drug is removed by the kidney; any comorbidities and kidney function must be considered before starting the therapy. Dose adjustment is required in such cases.

Amplus 250mg Injection 1 vial is classified as a pregnancy category B drug by the FDA (meaning no evidence of any risk in controlled animal trials but regarding the human fetus, insufficient data is available. Contraindications

Precautions
